BNL Montreal, Artist’s tour
Posted November 11, 2014 by jake moore
In the context of the 2014 BNL Montréal, i have been selected as one of 6 local artists and cultural workers to provide a responsive tour of the Biennial.
We have been invited to develop our own program once the Biennial opens and we will have had time to tour the exhibitions and its extended projects.
I am excited at the type of animation being developed for this project and am pleased to contribute.
please join me on Tuesday, November 25, 12:15 pm at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal
PLEASE NOTE THE TIME CHANGE!!!!!
“Between Two Waves”
Situating Hito Steyerl, Liquidity Inc., 2014 and Nicolas Baier Eternity, 2014 as the two waves posited here as post internet art and the new materiality,
I will look to End of Empire, by Simone Jones and Lance Winn as the “between” wherein the remediation of iconic imagery is returned to the cinematic tradition but made fully sculptural in its occupation of space.
These works are standouts within the complex field of well placed works within the BNL, and point to both current movements in contemporary practices and their historical underpinnings simultaneously.
Looking – backwards and forwards – au même temps.
