I am the grateful recipient of a 4 week fellowship to the Vermont Studio Centre.
So far i have met remarkable artists, experienced my first US Thanksgiving including watching football for some time.
The project i am working on here is loosely labeled “built paintings”.
My studio is small, almost domestic. It sits atop the woodshop and welding stations and is in between two other artists. To my left as i face out my windows to the river is Mazdak, originally from Iran, now resident in Pennsylvania, he is sandwiching branches between carefully cut wood slabs. To my right is Katie Hovenpick, a recent grad of Penn State whose remarkable work situates her body in nonsensical theatrical situations, imagine a woman laying naked on the ground covered with scoops of chocolate and vanilla ice cream.  i am the one in between
